ANTELOPE ACRES, Los Angeles County — The county’s transportation project inventory marks a significant road-resurfacing project serving Antelope Acres as completed, covering 70th Street West between Avenue E and Avenue J.
What the project record says
The North County Transportation Coalition’s January 26, 2026 board materials identify project 336 as “70th St West – Avenue E to Avenue J.” The list names Antelope Acres as the benefiting community and describes the work as pavement resurfacing using Senate Bill 1 road funding.
The project inventory lists an estimated cost of $1,035,000, with a construction period of July to August 2025, and its status as Completed when presented to the transportation coalition in January 2026.
Why a rural road project matters
Drivers in rural west Antelope Valley depend on a limited network of north–south and east–west roads for school trips, supplies, employment, emergency response and access to nearby Lancaster. Maintaining the pavement along a five-mile corridor can help reduce deterioration, although the inventory does not measure current pothole conditions or promise that every intersection was reconstructed.
What “completed” does and does not establish
The completed designation is a documented county project status, not a claim that no road damage has occurred since the work or that the final actual cost was exactly the preliminary estimate. The resurfacing described in the January board packet is not a new construction project scheduled for November 2026.
Residents should report newly damaged road surfaces through Los Angeles County Public Works and check current road notices before traveling during storms or other disruptions.
