ANTELOPE ACRES, Los Angeles County — Property owners and residents in unincorporated west Antelope Valley have reason to follow a county planning process that could affect the rules governing large renewable-energy projects on rural land.
What the county is proposing
The Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning’s 2026 environmental-review index identifies a Renewable Energy Ordinance Update under project PRJ2025-004286. The county posted its Notice of Preparation on August 3, 2026.
The proposed changes would update planning rules affecting solar-energy and wind-energy systems and temporary meteorological towers, and establish additional requirements for battery energy storage systems and green hydrogen facilities. County documents also mention proposed amendments to the Antelope Valley Area Plan.
What it could mean for Antelope Acres
Antelope Acres is an unincorporated Los Angeles County community. Its land-use decisions differ from projects inside Lancaster or Palmdale city limits, even when the projects share the broader Antelope Valley. Rural residents may have concerns about land compatibility, industrial setbacks, fire safety, access roads, water, landscape character and effects on agricultural or equestrian activity.
The county’s environmental review is intended to evaluate potential impacts and gather information before final policy decisions. It is not proof that a battery facility, wind farm or hydrogen plant has been approved on a specific Antelope Acres parcel.
How to review and participate
Residents can locate project PRJ2025-004286 through the county CEQA documents page, examine future hearings and review notices, or contact the department at info@planning.lacounty.gov. The site warns about fraudulent permit-related emails and recommends verifying any unexpected payment request directly with the county.
Any deadline should be taken from the latest official notice; earlier review windows should not be represented as open indefinitely.
